+ Many many more. But, this is about long enough.

Nature

The title of this section could have easily been "Home." But for me, home is about being surrounded by nature. That’s why I live in the Presidio of San Francisco. Stepping out my back door, I’m right there with the trees, birds, and dirt. Every day I take walks here, starting at sunrise and ending at sunset. Our neighborhood in Fort Scott is quiet, with only a few homes. Most of the time, I only see neighbors out for a walk, we’ll stop to chat for a moment, or sometimes there’s no one else at all. One day I’ll move on, but living here has taught me to always keep nature close.
One of my favorite architects, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, said the straight line is godless and immoral, and that nature is never straight, level, or plumb. Everything in nature is curved, irregular, and alive. I often think about that while walking here.

Crafting

I have always had a workshop, a place where I can work with my hands. Most weekends, you will find me there, away from screens, figuring out how to build something new or care for something well-loved. The point isn't to master every skill, but to understand my patience and willingness to learn. Each attempt helps me face the voice that says, "I cannot do this," and decide when to keep going or step back. I know I will break things along the way, it is inevitable, but each mistake shows me how to improve, and that makes it all worthwhile.

Photography

For most of my life, I have been fascinated with photography, drawn to light and its ever-changing qualities. It forces me to slow down and pay attention to what’s around me. It’s a way of communicating with others, sharing what our eyes are drawn to, the ideas and feelings we’re seeing, and trying to hold onto.

The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.
